Gardaí at Trim Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to a number of incidents in the Trim area on the 4th January 2014.

At about 7.25pm in the Abbey View area of Trim, a resident was at home watching the television. His security camera was activated in his garden and he saw a male walking towards his house. This male made his way to the back of this house and attempted to gain entry via the patio door, but was unsuccessful and left.

A short time later at another private residence nearby at Boycetown, Kiltale, a family were settling their children into bed for the evening. The mother was upstairs with her children and heard a noise at the back door, she alerted her husband who was downstairs to investigate this. The husband was met by a male brandishing a knife in the kitchen. This male threatened the husband and a struggle ensued. The male fled taking some property with him. The husband chased after him and got into his car but lost sight of the man.

Gardaí at Enniscorthy Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to a Burglary that occurred at a bank in the early hours of Friday the 7th February 2014.

Gardaí from Gorey Garda Station had just arrived at Enniscorthy Garda Station when they heard a loud noise coming from a nearby street. They drove through the town and were confronted by a male in dark clothing brandishing a gun outside the Bank. A shot was fired at the Gardaí.  A gang of at least 4 men, all dressed in dark clothing fled from the bank into an Audi estate car and were persued by Gardaí who lost sight of them at the old New Ross Road.

This armed gang caused an explosion at the ATM and stole a quantity of cash. Some of this money would have been dyed pink/red as a result of the explosion.

Missing Person Patrick Douglas

Gardaí at Coolock Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to the disappearance of 64 year old Patrick Douglas.

Patrick is missing from his family home at Aldrin Walk, Coolock since Sunday the 5th January 2014. He left his home that day and travelled on the 27 Bus from Bunratty Road into Amiens Street. Patrick met a man he knew on the bus and they both travelled into town together. Patrick spoke about going to Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Sean McDermott Street and to the St.Vincent’s De Paul Shop nearby. Later in the afternoon a couple that knew Patrick saw him in Fairview. At about 5pm his nephew saw him at a bus stop outside Gandon House on Amiens Street.

Patrick was captured on CCTV from the 31st December collecting a prescription at a pharmacy on St.Brigids Road, Artane.

Murder of Owen Maughan

Gardaí at Castlebar Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to the murder of 29 year old, Owen Maughan on Wednesday the 18th December 2013.

Owen and his wife Anne lived at a Halting Site nearby. They were married for eight years and had a very close relationship. Early on the morning of the 18th of December, Owen and Anne headed into town to run a few errands. Later that afternoon they went home and Anne prepared lunch. Owen left to go to a nearby service station to fill up some water canisters.

While Owen was at the service station, a grey BMW estate car drove into the forecourt. The front seat passenger shot Owen and fatally injured him. The BMW drove out of the forecourt at speed and travelled in the direction of Claremorris.

Owen was brought to hospital by ambulance but lost his fight for life that evening.

 
Appeal:

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information about this murder to come forward.

• The BMW Estate car was stolen from the Clarion Hotel (now the Maldron Hotel) Dublin Airport, Co.Dublin on the 6th of December. Gardaí believe this vehicle was in the Dublin area for some time after this and would have refuelled a number of times. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

• The registration of the car is 06G3981. The car was fitted with cloned registration plates, this number was 09D30024.

• This car travelled out the Claremorris road and was discovered two days later at Derryvohey. It had been destroyed by fire.

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to come forward.

Gardaí at Tullamore Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to a robbery at an Antiques Shop on Thursday the 5th December last.

It was just after 9.30am and the shop owner had just opened up for business. A few moments later, a Renault Laguna registration number 99D974 pulled up outside. Two masked and armed men got out of the car and entered the shop. They threatened the owner and demanded money. They demanded to know where the safe was and brought the owner to the office. They ransacked the office looking for cash and jewellery. The owner managed to press the panic alarm. The raiders fled the shop taking a large quantity of items with them.

Appeal:

 
• The Renault Laguna was sold in Dublin on the 19th of October 2013. The registration details provided by the person who bought it do not exist.

• The car was recovered in Chancery Lane which is less than half a mile from the Antique Shop. Gardaí are appealing to anyone in the area who may have seen anything to come forward.
