Traffic

On this month’s Traffic Segment Superintendent Eddie Golden was in studio to inform viewers on the new Go Safe Zones being implemented by An Garda Síochána in order to make our roads a safer place for all road users.

Superintendent Golden demonstrated with the aid of an interactive map available on the Garda website where one of these new Go Safe Zones will be located and how it will work.

He also had two new highly affective speed guns in studio to demonstrate the upgrade in equipment being used by the Roads Policing unit. These new devices were used in recent high speed detections of up to 174km/h in parts of the country in recent weekends at a distance of over 700 metres. Superintendent Golden emphasised the fact that some of the speeds detected recently during stormy conditions were extremely dangerous.

Finally Superintendent Golden gave advice to the public regarding the recent inactive NCT lifts. He will have an example of an incomplete NCT form which drivers should have on them if they were affected by this issue.
