Aggravated Burglary in Sandyford, Dublin on the 7/11/19

Gardaí at Dundrum Garda Station are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at a family home on Thursday 7th November 2019 on Kilgobbin Road, Sandyford, Co. Dublin.

A couple were at home watching television, when at approximately 8pm, four masked and armed men entered their house through an upstairs bedroom. One of the couple’s young grandchildren was asleep in a bedroom upstairs. The men searched the bedrooms looking for a safe, when they located it, they attempted to remove it through the open window but failed. The men went downstairs and approached the couple, demanding the key to the safe.

The wife was brought upstairs by the men, one of the men appeared to be using a radio device to communicate with someone. The woman got the key and opened the safe. The suspects removed the contents and fled back out through the window.

A large quantity of jewellery was stolen during this incident.

Appeal:

  • Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been offered some of the items of jewellery especially a distinctive and expensive necklace (photo available) for sale to come forward, Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking with cash for gold operators.
  • Gardaí are appealing to anyone in the Kilgobbin Road area between 8pm and 8.45pm on the evening of 7th November 2019 to please come forward.
  • Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured 10-D saloon car in the area with approx. 4-5 males in it. These males were in possession of radios and were dressed head to toe in dark clothing.
  • It is believed the car dropped the four males off at the scene before parking on Kilgobbin Road near Stepaside village and later drove at speeds on Kilgobbin Road where it collected the 4 males and headed in the direction of the M50 passing Sandyford Hall estate.
