Murder of Declan Smith on the 21/3/14

Gardaí at Coolock Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to the murder of 32 year old Declan Smith.

Declan had just dropped off his child at a crèche in Holywell Avenue, Donaghmede at 9am on Friday the 21st March 2014. A lone gunman approached him and shot him at close range. He was rushed to hospital suffering from serious injuries and he passed away a week later.
  

Appeal:

• This murder occurred in broad daylight outside a crèche with young children and parents present. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward or anyone who was in the area at the time and who they have not spoken to yet to come forward.

• The gunman fled the scene on foot, he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, a dark jacket with the collar pulled up around his neck, a dark baseball cap and he was carrying a satchel / mail bag with a yellow stripe.

• Gardaí believe he ran towards St.Donagh’s Road and possibly onto the Kilbarrack Road or Grange Road.
