Gardaí at Kinnegad Garda Station are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at the home of a young couple in Kinnegad.


On Monday evening, the 17th September, the couple were at home, their house is situated near Kinnegad on the Edenderry Road.  Shortly after 8pm the man left the house and went to a local public house nearby to do the weekly lottery for the local football club.  The woman was at home alone watching television.  Just before 10.30pm she took a rubbish bag from the kitchen to put it out the back.  As she opened the back door, she was confronted by three masked and armed men.  They tied her up, threatened her and kept her under watch for over two hours until her husband returned home.


One of the raiders confronted her husband in the kitchen when he got home.  The raider attacked and overpowered him.  The raiders continued to threaten the couple and demanded cash.  They stole a large quantity of electrical goods, cash and jewellery from the house before finally making their getaway.


Appeal:


• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Kinnegad area on the night of this incident or in the days prior to this and who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

• The raiders stole a large amount of property, Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been offered any of the items listed to come forward.

The Gardaí at the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation are appealing for information in relation to the identity of the man in the picture below.  The passport application was made using a false name and address.  He supplied false documentation to support his application.

Eunin McDevitt

The Gardaí at Ballyshannon Garda Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal hit and run traffic collision that occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday, the 29th September 2012 on the main N15 Donegal Road at Parkhill.


Numerous vehicle parts were recovered from the scene at the time of this collision.  It has been established from investigations that these vehicle parts belong to a Volkswagan Passat car manufactured between 2001 to 2005.


Eunin McDevitt was struck by a car on this road and fatally wounded.  He was forty seven years old.


Superintendent Leo McGinn and Eunan’s wife were in studio to appeal for the driver of this car to come forward.

The Gardaí at Kevin Street Garda Station are appealing for information in relation to the murder of Declan O’Reilly that occurred on Monday, the 24th September 2012.


Declan O’Reilly was shot and fatally wounded on the South Circular Road in front of his twelve year old son.


The gunmen left the scene in a silver BMW 320 Coupe, which was recovered burnt out on Cow Parlour in the tenters area of Dublin 8 a short time later.


CCTV from the surrounding areas captured the last movements of Declan prior to his death and Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area at this time and may have information about this brutal murder to come forward.

The Gardaí at Gurranabraher Garda Station are re-appealing for information in relation to the murder of seventy three year old Gus Hornibrook who was found dead in his home on the 6th November 2007.


His last movements were captured on CCTV footage throughout the area, where he was going about his business in the local post office and shop.  These were the last sightings of Gus before he was attacked in his home hours later.


Gus was a quiet and reclusive man and was well known and liked in the Gurranabraher area of Cork City.

The Gardaí at Tallaght Garda Station are investigating a sexual assault of a twenty five year old woman that occurred in the early hours of Sunday the 14th October 2012.


The woman had been at a party with close friends nearby.  She changed into warm outdoor clothes for the walk home and left the party with a friend.  They walked together to some nearby shops and said goodnight, the woman continued on alone for her short walk home up the Cookstown Road.  It was approximately 4.40am.  As she was walking along she noticed a man standing near the bus stop, so she crossed the road to avoid him.


The man called out to the woman and asked for a cigarette, she told him she didn’t have any and kept on walking.  The man than ran across the road and grabbed the woman, he punched her in the face three times knocking her to the ground.  He kicked her in the head and pressed a sharp implement to her neck.


He forced her to remove some clothing while on the side of the road and forced her across the road into the grounds of an apartment block.  He brought her over to a grassy area covered with trees and shrubbery, where he viciously attacked her.  The attack lasted over an hour.  The attacker was extremely violent throughout, and kept the sharp implement pressed against her neck at all times.
