Fraud Feature

Detective Sergeant Matt Sheridan was in studio to discuss a recent internet holiday scam.  The fraud involves a fraudster using an internet site to run an advertisement for a holiday villa for rent in Lanzarotti.  The ad features photographs of a genuine villa.

The fraudster will look for a €700 deposit to be paid into an Irish bank account.  Unfortunately when the renter arrives at their destination they discover that the property does not exist.

Detective Sergeant Sheridan offered advice to members of the public booking their holiday on the internet and will highlight some helpful tips to ensure to booking is secure.
