Murder of Darragh Nugent on the 11/9/17

Gardaí at Lucan Garda Station are investigating the murder of thirty-six-year-old Darragh Nugent that occurred on Monday 11th September 2017 at 9.30 pm.

At approximately 9pm, Darragh was at home with his partner and two young children in his house on Wheatfield Avenue, Neilstown, Clondalkin watching television. As Darragh was watching television, he saw two men looking through the sitting room window. Darragh told his partner he was going outside to check.

His partner then saw a black coloured BMW 3 Series registration number 02MH7025 car parked on the road outside the house. Shortly after a masked man approached the house and knocked on the sitting room window. Darragh’ s partner told him to leave, but he kicked in the front door and searched the house. The man was armed with a firearm and as he left the garden he met Darragh outside.

Darragh was shot a number of times and fatally injured. At the same time the BMW 3 Series car drove out of Wheatfield Avenue onto Collinstown Road. The car then travelled onto Neilstown Road and Fonthill Road. At approximately 10pm the car turned right onto Captains Hill, Leixlip, Co. Kildare

The next sighting of this car is 24 hours later in the Woodside estate in Leixlip. The car was on fire and three men were seen walking near the car at this time. These men were described as 18-21 years old, five foot ten inches in height to six foot, wearing dark clothing with the hoods up.

Appeal:

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone in the vicinity of Wheatfield Ave on the evening of Monday September 11th to come forward

• Two men were seen walking near to the victim’s house, the first man was described as five foot five inches in height wearing a grey tracksuit, bottoms of which were very baggy. The second man was described as taller wearing all dark clothing. Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to the identity of these men to come forward.

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to the 3 Series BMW car registration number 02MH7025. This car was purchased in June of this year.

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may know where this car was parked between June and September.
