Sexual Assault on Serpentine Avenue/Emmet Street, Dublin on the 9/12/18

Gardaí at Irishtown Garda Station are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in the early hours of Sunday 9th December 2018. 

The injured party left a hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 at around 12.45am to get a taxi home. At around 2am the injured party got into the white taxi on Serpentine Avenue. This car travelled through the Southside towards the City centre before crossing onto the Northside where it drove towards Emmet Street. The taxi parked on Emmet Street, where it remained for over thirty minutes. Gardaí believe the woman was sexually assaulted at this location.  

The suspect is described as being in his late twenties approximately 27 to 35 years old with short dark hair, a beard and was wearing glasses and a short sleeved shirt. 

Appeal: 

  • Anyone in the Shelbourne Road or Serpentine Avenue area between 12.45am to 2am to come forward. They are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the Emmet Street area of Dublin 1 area from 2am to 3am to please come forward.
  • So far, a number of witnesses have come forward and assisted the investigation, however Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has not come forward and who may have encountered the injured party on the night to please come forward.
  • Gardaí are appealing to motorists in these areas with dash cam footage to please come forward.
