Cash In Transit Robbery in Glasnevin, Dublin on the 13/9/17

Gardaí at Mountjoy Garda Station are investigating a cash in transit robbery that occurred outside a bank on Mobhi Road in Glasnevin on Wednesday 13th September 2017 at approximately 3.40pm.

The security van driver was working on the northside of Dublin and was making a deposit at a bank on Mobhi Road. A silver Sean Leon car, registration number 02DL9127 was captured on CCTV stopped at the traffic lights at the opposite junction. When the lights changed the car drove across the junction and pulled up beside the security van, a man armed with a crowbar got out of the rear passenger seat and ran towards the driver demanding the cash box. The security driver dropped the box and the man grabbed it and ran back to the waiting car and got back into the rear passenger seat.

The car travelled from Fairfield road and turned left onto Daneswell Road, then left onto Botanic Avenue before turning right onto Glasnevin Hill where it was captured on CCTV passing the Tolka House pub. The car drove into the Bon Secours Hospital towards the back of the hospital. The rear passenger got out with the cash box and ran down a laneway beside the Havan estate towards Church Avenue. The driver set the car alight before running away.

Appeal:

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Botanic Avenue / Gardens/ Fairfield Road area of Glasnevin on the afternoon of Wednesday 13th September 2017 who may have seen the silver Seat Leon car, registration number 02DL9127 to come forward.

• Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may know the whereabouts of the car between 9th August and the date of the robbery, the 13th. Did you notice the vehicle parked in your area, underground car park, or on your road?

• The cash box has not yet been recovered – Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information about this to come forward.

• Finally Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen two men matching the suspect’s description after they exited Church Avenue to come forward with whatever information they can.
