Fatal road traffic collision on the N2, near Carrickmacross, Monaghan on the 27/12/10 - named

Gardai have named the three people killed in yesterdays (27/12/10) crash on the N2 near Carrickmacross.

The were Glen Curtis, 28 years, Dunroe, Nobber, Co. Meath (front seat passenger BMW), Paul Carroll, 27 years, of Dunheeda, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan (rear seat passenger BMW) and Roisín Connolly, 39 years from Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 15 (front seat passenger Seat Toledo)

The 28 year old driver and a 31 year old passenger in the BMW were injured in the crash. The 32 year old driver of the Seat was also injured.  The injured were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The occupants of the third vehicle, an Opel Vectra, a man in his 40s , woman in her 30s and their two children, a boy aged 2 and girl aged 13 months were uninjured.

The road at the scene will remain closed for at least another hour.

A third person has died following yesterday's (27th December 2010) crash on the N2, near Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.

The 39 year old woman passed away in the early hours of this morning.  The woman was an occupant of one of three cars involved in collision at about 6.30 p.m., a male occupant of this car remains in hospital.

Two passengers in another car, both 27 year old men, were killed in the collision, the driver and an other passenger remain in hospital.  The occupants of a third car were treated for minor injuries. 

The collision is under investigation and road at the scene of the remains closed.
