EU Presidency Events August 2026 -Traffic Information
Traffic restrictions and diversions for EU Presidency events will be kept to the minimum required and it is intended that any impact on the public be localised and minimal. We would ask members of the public to heed the advice and instructions of Gardaí and we thank them for their co-operation.
Dublin Castle
The Irish Presidency is primarily concentrated in Dublin Castle. A policing and security operation is currently in place at Dublin Castle and will remain in place for the duration of the Presidency.
Security measures were put in place on Castle Street, Ship Street Little and Ship Street Great in June 2026 as part of the ongoing security operation at Dublin Castle for the EU Presidency.
These security measures have temporarily been removed from Castle Street following an assessment of upcoming EU Presidency events and related security requirements. The removal of the security measures is also to assist local residents who are directly affected by them around Dublin Castle.
Security measures will be reintroduced at the end of August as part of EU Presidency operation. Gardaí have, and will continue to, engage with local residents regarding these changes.
Security measures remain in place on Ship Street Little and Ship Street. Local access is being facilitated.
