EU Presidency Events October -Traffic Information
Traffic restrictions and diversions for EU Presidency events will be kept to the minimum required and it is intended that any impact on the public be localised and minimal. We would ask members of the public to heed the advice and instructions of Gardaí and we thank them for their co-operation.
Dublin Castle
The Irish Presidency is primarily concentrated in Dublin Castle. A policing and security operation is currently in place at Dublin Castle and will remain in place for the duration of the Presidency.
The following roads are currently closed to both traffic and pedestrians as part of this operation and will remain closed until 31st December 2026:
- Castle Street
- Ship Street Little
- Ship Street Great

Informal meeting of Telecommunications Ministers (TTE Telecoms)

An informal meeting of EU ministers responsible for telecommunications will take place on 12 and 13 October in Limerick.
The informal meeting will be chaired by Ireland’s Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan, TD, and will bring together EU Ministers responsible for telecommunications, the Ministers from European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states, and the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen.
The meeting will provide an important opportunity for an exchange of views on the Digital Networks Act. Other topics for discussion include subsea cable connectivity, resilience, digital connectivity, and consumer protection. It will be a key event in advancing agreement or a common understanding on important aspects of the Digital Networks Act, following on from the meeting of Directors General for Communications that will take place the month before.

An informal meeting of EU ministers responsible for education will take place on 15 and 16 October in Dublin.
This meeting will be co-chaired and co-hosted by two Ministers - Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton TD and Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD.
The meeting aims to bring together EU Ministers with responsibility for youth, and education (including primary, post‑primary and tertiary), to enable in‑depth discussions on shared priorities, emerging issues, and opportunities for strengthened cooperation.
