House fire on Murroughs Lane, Cork City on the 13/12/10

Gardaí at Gurranbraher, Cork are appealing for witnesses to a house fire on Murroughs Lane, Blarney Street, Cork City at approximately 4.30 a.m. on the 13th December 2010.

As a result of the fire an 87 year old female was removed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.  Two Gardai who responded to the call and entered the house were also taken to Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and were later released.


Gardaí are investigating all aspects of the fire, and are treating it as suspicious.  A male wearing a black beanie hat, brown jacket and jeans was seen in the area at the time.


Gardaí are asking anyone in the area at the time (e.g. people returning home from a night out, taxi drivers), or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the hours beforehand to contact them at Gurrnabraher Garda station (021  4946200), or to contact the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
