Court appearance in relation to Beaumont drugs seizure

One of the men being detained in relation to the seizure of cannabis in the Beaumont area of Dublin on 3rd December 2010 (See previous release below) has been released without charge.

The 28 year old man is due to appear in Court Number 2 (Courts of Criminal Justice) at 10.30am tomorrow morning, 6th December 2010 to be charged in connection with the seizure.

Two men (aged 22 and 28) have been arrested and are being detained in Santry and Swords Garda stations following a Garda search of a warehouse in the Beaumont area of Dublin at approximately 8.00pm last night, 3rd December 2010.

The search was carried out as part of an operation targetting organised crime in the Northern Dublin Division.

The intelligence-led operation was carried out by the Organised Crime Unit supported by the Garda National Drugs Unit and members from the Northern Dublin Division.

In the course of the search Gardai seized what is believed to be 20kg of cannabis pollen with an estimated street value of €250,000 (subject to forensic analysis).

The men are both being detained under the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
