Robbery of a premises on the 17th May 2014 in Gorey

Gardai in Gorey, Co Wexford arrested a male following a robbery of a supermarket in Gorey on the 17th May 2014.

The robbery occurred at approximately 3.40pm when a male walked into a supermarket on Coach Rd, Gorey with a knife,threatened staff and demanded money.The male left the supermarket with a sum of money, he male was wearing a red balaclava over his face.
 
Gardai arrived on the scene and arrested a male(35yrs) close by, a sum of money was also recovered. He was taken to Gorey Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. He was subsequently charged and brought before a Special sitting of Gorey District Court at 9.30pm on the 17th May 2014, he was remanded in custody to appear at Wexford District Court at 10.30am on Monday the 19th May 2014.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
