Traffic plan for Red Bull “FlugTag” at Dun Laoghaire on Sunday the 22nd May 2011

Traffic advice -

Queen’s Road - In order to provide a safe area for pedestrians it will be necessary to close one side of Queens Road from Sandycove direction between Park Road and Marine Road.   The road will remain open to Eastbound traffic, but this may be subject to restriction depending on volumes of traffic.       

Harbour Road - The section of Harbour Road between the Roundabout at the Harbour Plaza and the East Pier will be the staging area for Ambulances.  Ambulances will be stationed here throughout the event. Parking in this area will be strictly controlled.    

Temporary signage agreed by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Traffic Dept. will be placed by the Organisers to advise motorists of impending diversions.   

Diversions -

Queens Road will be reduced to one lane Eastbound only, from Marine Road to Park Road. Traffic exiting the Pavilion Car Park will be required to turn right towards Sandycove.  

Westbound traffic on Newtownsmith will be sent up Marine Terrace and Mellifont Avenue to George’s Street.  

Traffic from Park Road may either turn left into Marine Terrace and Mellifont Avenue or right towards Sandycove. There will be No left turn from Park Road into Queens Road.  

Access to Mellifont Avenue from George’s Street will be closed and traffic diverted via Park Road.   

 

Emergency Routes -

Should an emergency occur which requires large numbers of Emergency Vehicles access to the venue will be via Queen’s Road. No Non-Emergency traffic will be allowed into Queens Road. All other traffic will be diverted via Marine Road.    

Parking -

There will be no parking permitted on Queens Road, outside Marine Terrace or in the section of Harbour Road between the roundabout and the East Pier. Unauthorised vehicles parked in these areas will be removed in the interest of safety. Elsewhere in Dún Laoghaire the normal parking availability and restrictions apply.   

    

Public Transport -

An Garda Síochána wish to encourage patrons to use public transport to access the event. The venue is readily accessible from Dún Laoghaire and Sandycove /Glasthule DART stations and bus services.
