Preliminary Garda Information relating to Co. Tipperary for the Visit of HM Queen Elizabeth II on 20 May 2011.

General<_o3a_p> 

Ø      Garda priority is to ensure the safety and security of all individuals and facilitate the continuation of business and commercial activity as normal in all areas. <_o3a_p>

Ø      There will be some diversions and rolling road closures which will be flagged in advance.<_o3a_p>

Ø      Gardaí will maintain a high visible presence in all areas to facilitate traffic movement.<_o3a_p>

Ø      There will be parking restrictions in key areas. (see below).<_o3a_p>

Ø      People should use public transport where possible. Where there are amendments to public transport routes and/or timetables that information will be communicated to the travelling public and commuters are advised to check for timetable and route changes closer to their journey time. There may be temporary disruptions to public transport, including rail links, for short periods of time.<_o3a_p>

Ø      Existing Park and Ride facilities continue to be available and are advertised.<_o3a_p>

Ø      People are advised to plan their journeys in advance including routes and parking options at their final destination. They should also confirm appointments prior to travelling.<_o3a_p>

Ø      The public is advised to leave extra time for their journeys and to expect some congestion and delays.<_o3a_p>

Ø      People should expect to have to complete journeys on foot in Cork City Centre and there will be periodic searches of pedestrians by members of An Garda Síochána.<_o3a_p>

Ø      Gardaí are liaising with businesses and local residents in the key locations and will continue to communicate directly with them.<_o3a_p>

Traffic Flow Restrictions M8 Motorway 16/05/2011 – 20/05/2011<_o3a_p> 

From 12 noon on 16 May 2011 there will be traffic flow restrictions on the M8 motorway for a distance of 10 km from the Northern side of Junction 7 to the Southern side of Junction 9. The speed limit will be reduced to  100kmph  by means of advisory traffic signs. All traffic will be reduced to one lane which will travel on the outside lane of the carriageways both northbound and southbound. <_o3a_p> 

Appropriate VMS (Vehicle Message Signs) will be put in place on the northbound lane at Junction 10 Cahir (approx 5 km south of Cashel) and at the 2 km sign for Cashel.  VMS signs will also be placed on the southbound lanes at Junction 6, Horse and Jockey,  5 km north of Cashel and at the 2 km sign for Cashel.

On Thursday the 19th May 2011 at 6pm the only access to Cashel will be from Junction 9.  All junctions will re-open early in the afternoon of Friday 20th May 2011.  All entry and exit points to Cashel at interchange 7, 8 and 9 remain open to all vehicular traffic until Thursday 19th May 2011.  <_o3a_p> 

<_st13a_place><_st13a_placename>Cashel <_st13a_placetype>Town: 6pm Thursday 19th May 2011 to 12 midday Friday 20th May 2011<_o3a_p> 

On Thursday 19 May 2011, at 6pm no traffic will be allowed to proceed through the outer cordon at Cashel, an average distance of 7 km around Cashel.<_o3a_p> 

Access through the cordon will only be allowed to persons who hold a valid pass.  The inner cordon at Cashel will be closed completely and no access will be allowed. <_o3a_p> 

Diversionary signs will be placed at all junctions and outer-cordon points will be manned by Garda personnel to assist the public.<_o3a_p>

<_st13a_place><_st13a_placename>Fethard <_st13a_placetype>Town: 6pm Thursday 19th May to 2pm Friday 20th May 2011<_o3a_p>

On Thursday 19th May 2011 at 6pm the outer cordon restrictions will be put in place in Fethard which will allow for normal business to continue in Fethard.  <_o3a_p> 

A similar cordon will exist in Killenaule allowing normal business to continue in Killenaule also.  Local roads will be diverted accordingly.<_o3a_p> 

Junctions will be manned by Garda Personnel from 6pm on Thursday and diversionary signs will be in place.  <_o3a_p> 

Local traffic will be allowed to pass through with restrictions.<_o3a_p>

Garda Information relating to the <_st13a_place><_st13a_placename>Cork <_st13a_placetype>City area for the Visit of HM Queen Elizabeth II on 20 May 2011<_o3a_p>

From 10 a.m. on Friday, 20 May 2011 a number of streets in the city centre will be closed to traffic. The outer routes around the city will remain open. <_o3a_p> 

Pedestrians will have access to the city centre with reduced crossing points due to crowd control barriers. Other restrictions to pedestrians will be in place at appointed locations.<_o3a_p> 

Bus Éireann have the Park and Ride facility operational at the <_st13a_place><_st13a_placename>Black <_st13a_placename>Ash <_st13a_placetype>Park and Ride Facility to Lavitts Quay.  Access to the Park and Ride will be via <_st13a_street><_st13a_address>Mick Barry Road from the <_st13a_street><_st13a_address>Tramore Road direction. All Bus Eireann schedules can be found at www.buseireann.ie<_o3a_p> 

The City Centre areas of South Link Road (Inbound), Station Road, Anglesea Street, South Mall, Grand Parade, Patrick Street, Academy Street, Washington Street, Sheares Street, and Dyke Parade will be closed to traffic from 1000 hrs on the 20th May 2011. No parking will be allowed on this route from 1800 hrs the previous evening the 19th May 2011.<_o3a_p> 

This will also affect deliveries and services as barriers will be placed along the route. Arrangements should be made to have deliveries prior to 1800hrs on the 19th May 2011.  The service providers in the city centre have been consulted and are aware of this restriction.<_o3a_p> 

There will be No Pedestrian Access to the following Streets on the 20th May 2011 between 12 noon and 4 p.m.<_o3a_p>
