Incident in Navan, Meath on the 24/8/11

Shortly after 8.00 a.m. this morning, the 24th August Gardai were called to an incident at a house at Beech Grove, Johnstown Wood, Navan, Co. Meath.

A man in his late 40's was injured in an explosion.  The man was removed by ambulance to hospital.  The area is sealed off and a technical examination of the area is underway.  A suspected improvised explosive device is also the subject of a technical examination. 
 

The incident is under investigation and an incident room has been set up at Navan Garda Station, telephone number 046 9079930. 
 

Gardai are asking anyone who was in the Johnstown Wood area of Navan in the early hours of this morning or anyone who may have information to contact the incident room at Navan Garda Station.
