Gardai at Mountmellick are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the Mountmellick to Emo Road at Knightstown, Mountmellick.
At approximately 915am a 51 year old male cyclist was fatally injured when he was struck by a motor car. The driver of the motor car, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Portlaoise Hospital where she is being treated for minor injuries.
The road is closed for a technical examination and traffic diversions are in place.
