Gardaí have arrested two men and seized a quantity of drugs following an operation in Newbridge, Co. Kildare this morning, the 16/3/10.
The operation took place at approximately 6.30a.m. this morning in Newbridge when a truck was stopped and searched. This operation involved the Organised Crime Unit, the Garda National Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Services. Cocaine with an estimated street value of €140,000 (approximately 2 kilos), and heroin with an estimated street value of €150,000 (approximately 1 kilo) were seized (both these values are subject to analysis). A male, aged 32, was arrested in Newbridge, and is being held in Newbridge Garda station.
In a follow up search a 30 year old male was arrested in a house in Donaghmede, Dublin and is being held in Coolock Garda station.
Both males are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996, and can be held for up to seven days.
There are currently no plans to display the seized drugs.
