Bray Air Display July 27th and 28th 2019

Public transport should be availed of, there is additional bus capacity and rail capacity in place for the weekend of the Air Display. 

The best way to travel to Bray is by Public Transport via Dart and Bus.

There will be additional services to cater for the increased demand from all operators.

Please plan your journey and leave plenty of time to arrive.

The event site will open from 12 midday each day.

The display will be from 3pm each day. 

Parking will be available for the event for all traffic at Coláiste Ráithín and at the Old Golf Club Lands (Ravenswell Road), Bray, Co. Wicklow.

Access to Bray will be via Junction 5 ( Bray North) from the M50/ M11.

We are encouraging all motorists to use route into Bray and parking facility due to the easy pedestrian access to the event area. 

To deal with the large volumes of traffic a plan has been devised to assist with the management of the event. There will be a number of road closures as well as restricted movement in the environs of Bray town. The road closures on the Saturday will only relate to the event site ( i.e. Strand Rd) and emergency access routes. There will be a large number of road closures on the Sunday. There will also be designated park and ride locations. The area to the east of the Main Street will be a sterile area with very restricted traffic movement other than; residents; Dublin Bus; and shuttle buses from the car parks. 

Pre Event

  • Traffic entering from Greystones will be diverted to park at the car parks on Southern Cross Road. There will be restricted access to the Vevay Road.
  • Traffic entering from the N11 will be directed to travel eastbound on the Southern Cross Road where event traffic will be directed to parking at the IDA Business Park and Shoreline Leisure. 
  • Only residents and people conducting business in the town will be permitted to travel on Killarney Road or Vevay Road. Residents should be in possession of their driving licence with their address.
  • Traffic entering the Main Street will be directed to the Car Parks at St. Thomas’s (BIFE) and Quinnsborough Road (Florence Road Car Park). Traffic will be monitored beyond the car parks and restrictions put in to place as and when required.
  • Traffic entering from J5 Bray North (Wilford Roundabout) will be permitted to travel along the Dublin Road and directed into the car park at Colaiste Raithin and Ravenswell Road.
  • Traffic entering from the Lower Dargle Road will be directed to proceed along Ravenswell Road to the car park.

Post Event

All Traffic routes will be monitored and if necessary Garda members will take control of junctions to facilitate the exit of vehicles from the event car parks. 

Shuttle Buses

There will be a shuttle bus from the Southern Cross Road that will drop/collect at a Temporary Stop at Meath Road only and on Sunday only. 

The shuttle bus route is as follows:  Southern Cross Road – Vevay Road – Putland Road – Meath Road (Stop) – Convent Road – Putland Road – Vevay Road – Southern Cross Road

Emergency Routes

  • Seafront North:

The emergency route from the north of the Seafront will be Seapoint Road – Castle Street – Dublin Road

  • Seafront Central:

The emergency route from the central area of the Seafront will be Meath Road – Florence Road – Main Street – Castle Street – Dublin Road

  • Seafront South:

The emergency route from the south of the Seafront will be Putland Road – Vevay Road – Southern Cross Road – N11.           

Road Closures in Bray this weekend:

Access to Bray will be via Junction 5 (Bray North) 

  • Spectators travelling from the South should travel on the N11 passing Kilmacanogue and take Junction 5 (Bray North) and follow signposts for Bray. 
  • Spectators travelling from the Dublin direction should also take Junction 5 (Bray North) and follow signposts for Bray.
  • Parking will be available for the event for all traffic at Coláiste Ráithín and at the Old Golf Club Lands (Ravenswell Road), Bray, Co. Wicklow. 

Spectators will have direct access to the event from these car parks via Bray Harbour Railway Bridge leading onto Bray Seafront/ Promenade

The event site is along Bray Seafront/ Promenade which is only a short walking distance away. 

The access to parking is left just after the Circle K garage on the approach to Bray. 

Follow Signage / Stewards / Garda directions on the day. 

The event site food markets entertainment etc will be open from midday each day. 

The following Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place:

Saturday 27th July 2019 from approximately 1pm onwards the following roads will be closed:

  • Strand Road
  • Albert Avenue
  • Sidmonton Avenue
  • Convent Avenue
  • Seapoint Road
  • Meath Road
  • Quinsborough Road
  • Novara Avenue (from St. Thomas’)
  • Vevay Road (Southern Cross side) to Putland Road
  • Newcourt Road
  • Lower Dargle Road

Sunday 28th July 2019 from approximately 9am onwards there will be road closures in place from early and the following roads will be closed:

  • Strand Road
  • Albert Avenue
  • Sidmonton Avenue
  • Convent Avenue
  • Meath Road
  • Seapoint Road
  • Quinsborough Road
  • Florence Road
  • Novara Avenue (from St. Thomas’)
  • Vevay Road (Southern Cross side) to Putland Road
  • Newcourt Road
  • Lower Dargle Road 

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS will apply to the following roads:

  • Sidmonton Road
  • Putland Road
  • Boghall Road
  • Castle Street
  • Dublin Road
  • Bray Main Street 

THERE WILL BE STRICT ENFORCEMENT OF ALL ILLEGAL PARKING IN THE AREA BY GARDAI.
