Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Carndonagh last night, Friday 30th May, 2014.
At approximately 9.30 p.m. Gardai were alerted to an incident in Convent Road, Carndonagh where a 73 year old man was assaulted. He was taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry where his condition is serious.
A male aged in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Buncrana Garda Station. The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
