The ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ Event raises €125,000 for Crumlin Hospital’

The ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ Munich Marathon initiative, has raised €125,000 which will be presented to Mr Joe Quinsey CEO, Children’s Medical Research Foundation at Crumlin Hospital on Friday, the 23rd November 2012 at 8.00pm (Sharp) at the Garda Social Club, Harrington Street, Dublin 2.
 
 
The ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ event saw 103 members of An Garda Síochána participate in the Munich Marathon on Sunday, the 14th October 2012, in aid of the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation, Crumlin Hospital.  The ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ participants were joined in Munich, by Former World Champion, Mr Eamonn Coghlan, Malcolm O’ Kelly and Jack O’ Shea as the Official ‘Team Patrons’

 
All members of the ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ Team personally funded all expenses incurred in this trip and therefore, every cent raised by them in this initiative, went directly to the Crumlin Hospital.  In total, the 103 Gardaí have raised an incredible €115,000 for this charity, which will be used to support the great work carried out at St John’s Ward in Crumlin Hospital.

 
According to Commissioner Martin Callinan "The ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ initiative was a tremendous success. I wish to personally commend the dedication of each team member, both in terms of fundraising and surmounting the Munich  Marathon challenge. Initiatives such as ‘Great Garda Run 2012’ undoubtedly assists An Garda Síochána in building and sustaining positive community relationships throughout Ireland”. 


At 8pm Sharp, a Photo-shoot opportunity will be provided at the ‘Cheque Presentation Ceremony’, involving The Garda Commissioner, Mr Joe Quinsey, Mr Eamonn Coghlan, Mr Jack O Shea and Malcolm O Kelly with members of the Great Garda Run 2012’ Team.
