Searches Co. Mayo

As the result of an ongoing operation targeting the cultivation of cannabis plants in the Mayo Division, Gardaí at Claremorris in conjunction with Gardaí at Swinford yesterday evening, Friday 8th April 2011, searched a premises at The Square, Swinford, Co. Mayo.

The Regional Support Unit assisted in this search.

Up to 1000 cannabis plants were discovered at various stages of growth in a number of rooms in the premises.

These plants have an estimated street value of approximately €400,000.

The premises had been renovated into a spohisticated cannabis growing factory and extensive lighting and ventilation systems had been installed.

A large amount of cultivation equipment was also found on the premises.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
