Robbery and arrest at Rathmines, Dublin on the 12/4/11 - Court appearance

A male in his 30’s will appear at The Courts of Criminal Justice No.4, tomorrow morning, the 13th April at 10.30am charged in connection with the robbery of a post office on Upper Rathmines Road on the 12/4/11.

Gardai from Rathmines have arrested a man in his early 30’s following the robbery of a post office at Upper Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 which occurred today (12.04.11) at approx 1.30 pm.

The lone male entered the premises, wearing a cap and sunglasses and was armed with what appeared to be a firearm.  He threatened staff and then made his escape with a sum of money.  He got into a taxi at a rank across the road, threatened the driver forcing him to drive.  Gardai responding to the call observed the taxi and stopped it at <_st13a_street><_st13a_address>Leicester Avenue a short time later.<_o3a_p>

The man was arrested, the sum of money was recovered and he is currently detained at Rathmines Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. No one was injured in the incident.
