On Tuesday, 28 September 2010 the Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy will welcome the Minister for Justice and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern TD, and the Minister of State with responsibility for Older People, Ms Áine Brady TD, to Garda Headquarters for the launch of An Garda Síochána’s Older People Strategy.
Media are invited to Garda Headquarters for the launch of the strategy at 14.00.

Positive Ageing Week runs from 24 September to 2 October 2010. The UN International Day of Older Persons is on 1 October 2010.
An Garda Síochána’s Older People Strategy has been developed to ensure the policing needs of older people in Ireland are met to the highest possible standard.
The strategy was developed following extensive consultation with key stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation. Focus groups were held throughout the country and written submissions were received from over 50 agencies.
