Pink Concert at Thomond Park on the 20/6/10

“Pink” Concert Sunday, 20/6/2010 THOMOND PARK, Limerick City Stiles Opening at 17:00 Music Starts at 17:30 Event Finish at 22:30

Introduction:

People intending to travel to above event or other events or to / from Shannon Airport are advised to travel early as delays are to be expected owing to the event.

Shannon Bridge, Thomond Bridge and Sarsfield Bridge will remain open to two way traffic at all times.

GENERAL TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

1.         Thomond Bridge / Sarsfield Bridge and New Shannon Bridge will remain open to Two Way Traffic throughout the duration of event(s).

2.         Traffic travelling out bound (N7) on Sexton Street North towards Old Cratloe Road and past the stadium or intending to turn right at Hassetts Cross northbound along Kileely Road(R464) will not be restricted but due to volume, delays can be expected from as early as 3pm. Similarly traffic travelling inbound on Ennis Rd. are liable to be diverted at Ivans, Caherdavin Cross at its junction with Northern Ring Road where a diversion inbound to City Centre may apply. All traffic travelling inbound/outbound along (N18) can expect to experience delays also.

3.         No general parking spaces are available within the grounds and vehicle access to the grounds (this includes access for vehicles with special needs) is limited by Pass only issued by Stadium Management. Parking restrictions will be put in place at/near the Stadium. Vehicles found in breach are liable to be impounded.

4.         Pre concert road closures and diversions as set out below will come into effect at 3pm and will remain in place until at least 10.30pm. Where road closures / diversions apply, only public services vehicles [including taxis / hackneys] buses / minibuses and specially adapted [disabled] vehicles and vehicles with Residents Passes will be allowed proceed beyond the road closures / diversions. Resident Passes are available at Mayorstone Garda Station. Production of Driving License or Utility Bill will be required.

Diversions:

Traffic travelling inbound along the Ennis Road and intending to turn left at Ivan’s for Northern Ring Road (N7) (Brookville Avenue) and travelling North bound from Clonmacken Road intending to proceed towards Northern Ring Road (N7) (Brookville Ave) can expect delays and are subject to volume of patrons attending event liable to be diverted on Ennis Road at Ivan’s Shop, Caherdavin.

Similarly traffic travelling inbound (R464) from Parteen, Moyross, Long Pavement direction are liable to be diverted left onto New Road, Thomondgate again subject to volume of patrons attending event.

Road Closures:

Road Closures are likely to apply from 3pm onwards at the following locations;

·          Ennis Road at its junction / entrance into Lansdowne Park

·          Shelbourne Road Upper at its junction with Shelbourne Park

·          Shelbourne Road Upper at it’s junction with Mayorstone Drive

·          Kileely Rd (R464) at it’s junction with Ballynanty Rd.

·          Knockalisheen Rd at it’s junction with Old Cratloe Rd.

·          Knocklisheen Rd. at Shanabbooly Rd./Ballygrennan Rd.

·          Old Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Avenue

·          Old Cratloe Road at its junction with Mayorstone Upper

·          Old Cratloe Road near its junction with Merval Drive

·          Shannonvale/Hazeldene at it’s junction with the Ennis Rd (when event has started closure will move to Avondale / Hillcrest).

·          Corrib Drive at its Junction with Ennis Rd (when event has started closure will move to Merval Drive / Mayorstone Upper No. 2).

Ancillary road closures could also apply at Belfied Crescent, Priory Park, Reidy Park

The Garda advice to all patrons attending this event on 20th June 2009 (if not using private bus/shuttle, other service) is to arrive early and avail of street/multi-storey parking in the city centre area. Patrons can either walk out to the Stadium – 15/20 minute walk or avail of the Shuttle Bus Service departing from the Bus Eireann Bus Stop, Lower Henry Street to the stadium or any Taxi/PSV vehicle. Patrons heeding this advice are likely to avoid delays in travelling home after event.

The Old Cratloe Road – Cratloe Road Roundabout to Hassett’s Cross and Shelbourne Road – Hassett’s Cross to Union Cross will be closed to all vehicular traffic (for approx 20 minutes / half an hour) on termination of the concert to permit the safe egress of patrons from the Stadium.

Patrons Travelling to Thomond Park:

All patrons travelling to Thomond Park Stadium for the event are advised to utilise public transport and / or the park and ride facilities from City Centre / outlying locations. Thomond Park stadium is serviced by bus and taxi.

Patrons who travel by road are advised to travel early to avail of the Multi-Storey Car Park and Street Parking facilities.

Thomond Park is within walking distance of Limerick City Centre (10-15 mins)

There are no supervised car parks available in the vicinity of Thomond Park and parking close to the stadium is prohibited.  Access to the adjoining residential areas is by resident pass only.     

Patrons should be aware that illegally parked vehicles will be impounded or clamped and will be liable to a fine of €130.00.

Drivers should be aware that illegally or improperly parked vehicles have the potential to cause traffic disruption, obstruction and difficulty to emergency vehicles that may need to access the narrow residential streets that surround Thomond Park Stadium.

Patrons are asked to give due consideration to residents in the vicinity of the event.

Special Needs Parking:

There are no special needs parking facilities on the public streets near the general area of Thomond Park.

A limited number of spaces are available within the grounds. Consult with Thomond Park Stadium Company (www.thomondpark.ie)  for special arrangements.

Bus/Coach:

For Drop off purposes only before event outside the Green Gate, Old Cratloe Road. For Pick up purposes only after event from outside the Blue Gate Old along Old Cratloe Road  Westbound towards Northern Ring Road, Brookville Avenue .

Road Works:

Patrons are advised that delays can be expected and may be caused by ongoing Road Works on the Ennis Road, particularly on the N18 at the Radisson Hotel, both Inbound / Outbound directions owing to new tunnel bypass works.

Pre Event Traffic Restrictions:

As with all events at Thomond Park, a Garda Cordon will be in effect on the streets that lead to residential areas. Only accredited vehicles will be permitted to pass by this cordon. All vehicles will be checked for accreditation. 

Local residents, their immediate families, local business community are in possession of passes and will be facilitated at the barriers. Passes however do not guarantee entry through the cordon where pedestrian volumes dictate.

As a guideline the Garda cordon will be in place two hours prior to stiles opening time and one hour post event to enable match patrons to arrive and depart safely.

Ticket  Sale(s) &  Ticket Collection  at Thomond Park: 

Ticketmaster kiosk will be located close to the green gate entrance

Casual Trading

Casual trading will not be permitted to operate along Old Cratloe Road from Hassets Cross to Moylish Rd. Roundabout and likewise on Shelbourne Upper to Union Cross

As per Litter Pollution Act 1997 to 2003 - It is illegal to distribute advertising leaflets or samples – Minimum Fine €150.00

Public Order:

Patrons are advised that the Gardaí will not permit the consumption of alcohol outside public houses, while walking along the street or in any other public place and such alcohol will be seized.

Patrons are asked to have consideration for local residents and refrain from anti-social behaviour.

Crime:

Patrons are advised to be aware of their own personal safety and security while attending the event. They should ensure the security of personal belongings while on route to and from the stadium i.e. purses/wallets/tickets/ Mobile Phones.

Patrons who arrive by vehicle should also ensure that property is not left exposed in parked vehicles. They should ensure that car windows and sunroofs are correctly closed.
