Drug seizure and arrest at Stillorgan, Dublin on the 26/7/10 - Update

As part of the follow up investigation into the seizures in stillorgan (previous release refers & is attached) a house was searched on the Headford Road, Kells, Co. Meath, in the early hours of this morning, 27th July 2010.

The search was conducted by the Meath Divisional Drugs Unit.

Another elaborate cannabis factory was found at this address where the house had been modified - the electricity supply had been by passed and an air extraction system was in place.

400 cannabis plants, 3 kilo's of cannabis herb and various cultivational equipment was seized.

The total street value for this seizure is believed to be in the region of €200,000 subject to further analysis of substances seized.

Two males aged 16 and 21 years were arrested and are being detained at Kells Garda Station under section 2 of The Drug Trafficking Act.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by Gardaí from the Organised Crime Unit stopped and searched 2 vehicles on the Ninth Lough Road at approximately 7pm yesterday evening, 26th July 2010. 

As the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Blackrock area Gardaí stopped and searched a car at Drummartin Link Road, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin.

This occurred at approximately 1pm yesterday afternoon, the 26th July 2010.

The search resulted in 5 kilo's of cannabis grass being recovered in the boot of the car and the 33 year old male driver being arrested.

Follow up investigations involved a house being searched on Mount Anville Wood, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin, later in the day.

The search of this house revealed that the entire upstairs was being used as a cannabis factory. In each of the 4 upstairs bedrooms there was a pot grow system with high density lighting systems, reflective wall coverings, and extensive ventilation and air extraction systems.

Approximately 500 cannabis plants and several more kilo's of cannabis grass were discovered.

A 33 year old female was arrested at the scene.

Two follow up searches were carried out in Clondalkin and Crumlin but there were no seizures or arrests.

The total street value of both seizures is believed to be in the region of €600,000, subject to further analysis.

Both arrested persons are being detained at Blackrock Garda Station under section 2 of the drug trafficking Act.
