Graduation Ceremony at the Garda College, Templemore on the 29/4/10

The Minister for Justice Equality and Law Reform, Mr Dermot Ahern T.D. presented Certificates to 267 Gardaí (84 Females and 183 Males) at a Graduation Ceremony at the Garda College, Templemore today.

The COMMISSIONER’S MEDAL – awarded to the Student achieving the highest aggregate marks in academic subjects – was won by Garda Derek Ryan, a native of Perrystown, Co Dublin, and who will be stationed at Balbriggan Garda Station

Garda James Darcy a native of Tallaght, Co Dublin, was awarded the GARY SHEEHAN MEMORIAL MEDAL, commemorating a Recruit Garda who was killed on duty in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, in December, 1983. This prize is awarded to the best all-round Student. Garda O’Darcy will be attached to Store Street Garda Station, Dublin.

THE TEMPLEMORE TOWN COUNCIL MEDAL, for outstanding achievement and appreciation in the area of Social Science Studies, was presented to Garda Maeve McQuillan, a native of Maghera in Co. Derry, and who will be stationed at Kells Garda Station, Co.  Meath.
