Gardaí at Sligo are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 00.32hrs this morning (9/3/09).

A 60 year old woman was fatally injured when the car she was driving left the road and entered a river on the old Ballisodore Road at Carrowgubbdha, Co Sligo. She was the only occupant in the car.

The scene is currently closed pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
