My deepest condolence to Garda Flatley’s wife and daughters, his other family members neighbours and friends. Also, my sympathies to all of his Garda colleagues and all his colleagues in the GAA. This is such a terrible shock and tragedy. Words seem a bit futile in the face of such grief. Kevin was clearly a brave, dedicated and committee member of the Gardai. I hope his loss won’t be in vain. Too many people are dying on our roads, and the Guards and other state agencies can only do so much. It comes down to personal behaviour on speed, attention to the road, fitness to drive and courtesy for others. So many of us treat the roads as a personal extension of our homes, or ourselves, because we’re in a car or on a bike. Where we can behave as we want. This has to stop! I’m sure those who loved him will want to have Kevin remembered for the mas he was and how he lived, not how he died. May he Rest in Peace.

To each and every Garda, training, serving and retired, I wish to express my condolences to you. I especially think of those of you who worked closely with Garda Flatley throughout his career, and the many community members who benefited from his professionalism and compassion. I cannot imagine what each of your families are thinking as we face these days of grief, and express support for them too. This tragedy emphasises the impact of the loss for everyone. May Kevin rest in peace, and may the Garda family wrap their arms round his loved ones and carry them through these dark times. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dilis.

Sincere heartfelt condolences to Una, Aoife, Erin and to Kevin's extended family, friends, Garda colleagues on your sad loss during this difficult time. What I've read and listened to on the radio about him, he was in the right job as a member of the Gardai looking out for people. A tragic loss. May Kevin Rest in Peace

Kevin, I coached you years ago. You were a gent, gentle and a pleasure to support. Your tragedy brings us back to how fragile we are. And all I can think and come up with is " your a good guy, a great person". With respect and nice memories. Rest well my friend
