An Garda Síochána continue to investigate all the circumstances of a fatal incident that occurred on Thursday 28th May 2026 near Galway Road, Clifden, Co. Galway.
The post-mortem examination has since been completed by the Office of the State Pathologist. The results of which are not being released for operational reasons.
The adult male (aged in his 30s) who was arrested is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the North West Region.
Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
Anyone in the Clifden area – in particular, Galway Road – between 2:00pm on Wednesday 27th May and 9:00am on Thursday 28th May 2026, who may have noticed anything suspicious is asked to come forward.
Road users and those with camera footage, (including home security and dash-cam), in the area at the time, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
