29/05/2026 Operation Targeting Illegal Trapping and Possession of Wild Birds, St. Mary’s Park, Limerick, 27th May 2026

Gardaí in Limerick, as part of a multi-agency operation led by the NPWS (National Parks and Wildlife Service), National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) and Limerick Dog Warden Services carried out a search under warrant of a premises in St. Mary’s Park, Limerick City, on Wednesday 27th May 2026.

The operation was part of an ongoing investigation targeting the illegal trapping and possession of wild birds.

During the course of the operation, a male Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) was surrendered to NPWS operatives.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigations are ongoing.
