On Tuesday 26th May 2026, Gardaí attached to the Kilkenny Detective Unit conducted a day of action targeting online fraud connected to a money laundering network.
Gardaí searched a number of properties in Counties Donegal, Longford, and Louth. During the course of the operation Gardaí seized £174,000 (sterling), €7000, a motor vehicle and a number of items of evidential value.
Two adults males (aged in their 30s and 60s) were arrested in connection with the investigation on Wednesday 27th May 2026, and are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda Station in Co. Kilkenny.
On Wednesday 27th May 2026 the National Crime Agency (NCA) arrested 3 males (aged in their 40s, 40s and 60s) and one female (aged in her 30s) in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone in connection with this investigation.
Investigations are ongoing.
