20/05/2026 Witness Appeal - Fatal Road Traffic Collision, R702, Borris, Co. Carlow, Wednesday 20th May 2026. Update Subject

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision at Ballytiglea on the R702 between Borris and Goresbridge, Co. Carlow this morning, Wednesday 20th May 2026.

The collision involved a car and occurred at approximately 6:20am.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body remains at the scene.

There were no other passengers in the car and other injuries reported.

The road is closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R702 between Borris and Goresbridge between 5:30am and 6:30am, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
