As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí have seized €360,000 of suspected illegal drugs, and arrested a man following a search of a vehicle in the Castlebar, Co. Mayo area on Monday 18th May 2026.
Gardaí from the Mayo Roscommon Longford Divisional Drugs Unit, while on patrol, stopped and searched a car on the evening of Monday 18th May 2026.
During the course of the search, 18 kg of suspected illegal cannabis with an approximate value of €360,000 was seized.
A man (aged in his 40’s) was arrested in connection with the incident, and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in the North Western Region.
The drugs seized are subject to further analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
