Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred off the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barlycove, Goleen, Co. Cork on Wednesday 29th April 2026 at approximately 11 am.
A motorcycle collided with a pole. The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed from the scene and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The road off the R591 known locally as the Dunmanus Road/Coast Road to Barleycove remains closed at this time to facilitate an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact them. Any road users who were traveling in the area between 10:45 am and 11:15 am are asked to make contact with investigating Gardaí. Anyone with camera footage (including mobile phone or dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available.
