Fatal Road Traffic Incident - Castletownroche, Co Cork, Monday 6th April 2026.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident that occurred in Castletownroche, Co Cork today, Monday 6th April 2026.

The collision occurred at approximately 12:50pm and involved a car.

The male driver of the car (50s) was pronounced deceased at the scene.  He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

A technical examination of the scene is being carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and the road remains closed at this time.  It is envisioned that the road will be fully reopened by 6pm this evening.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage and were travelling in the area between 12:30pm and 1:00pm this afternoon, Monday 6th April 2026, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
