Comment from Acting Commissioner Anne Marie McMahon on latest report of Disclosures Tribunal 8/7/21

Issue Date: 08/07/2021

"An Garda Síochána welcomes the finding of Mr Justice Sean Ryan that no current or former Senior Garda Officer engaged in targeting or discrediting of Garda Nicholas Keogh following his making of a protected disclosure. Justice Ryan found that, "the officers under scrutiny in this case emerge as conscientious members of An Garda Síochána concerned to do their duty.”

"An Garda Síochána also welcomes the finding of Justice Ryan that Garda Nicholas Keogh’s allegations of criminal activity against Gardaí were taken seriously by the organisation and were investigated competently and with integrity.”

"An Garda Síochána will now review Justice Ryan’s recommendations in relation to our disciplinary processes and procedures, and work place stress and alcohol. An Garda Síochána is currently revising its disciplinary processes and procedures, and is introducing a range of measures to enhance work place supports for Garda personnel.

"An Garda Síochána is committed to ensuring that Garda personnel who report wrong-doing in the organisation are supported and any such matters raised are taken seriously."
