Two charged - Drugs and firearm seizure in Finglas, Dublin 11 on the 29/5/18

Gardai investigating the seizure of controlled substances and a firearm in Dublin on the 29th May 2018 have charged a male and a female, they will appear before Ct No.3 Criminal Courts of Justice on the 31st May 2018 at 10.30am.

On Monday, 28th May 2018 an intelligence led Operation was conducted by the Special Crime Task under the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and supported by various specialist units from the DMR region.  This operation was targeting an Organised Crime group from Dublin South and West.
 
As a result of this operation a Semi-Automatic shotgun was observed being handed over between two vehicles in the Finglas area of Dublin.  Both vehicles were stopped and the firearm was recovered.  A 31-year-old male and a 53-year-old female have been arrested and are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State act 1939 which means they can be detained for a total of 72 hours.  They are detained at two Dublin Garda stations.
 
In follow up searches a substantial amount of Cocaine (approx. €140,000 euro) and suspected Heroin with Mixing agent (approx. Value €900,000) all subject to analysis has been seized along with a sum of Cash.
