Yesterday evening, Saturday the 22nd of December shortly before 7pm Gardaí from Blanchardstown responded to a call regarding a shooting at Blakestown Cottages. Gardaí were quickly at scene and found the body of a male in his 30s on the driveway of one of the cottages. He had been shot a number of times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A murder investigation has been launched and an incident room has been set up in Blanchardstown Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to members of the public for assistance in respect of the following matters:
1. Gardaí would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Blakestown Cottages, Blakestown Road, Hartstown Park and St. Peregrines GAA Club yesterday between the hours of 5pm and 7pm. Any drivers who travelled the Blakestown Road during 5pm and 7pm particularly vehicles with dash cameras.
2. Garda are appealing to trace the movements of a silver Volkswagen Jetta bearing the registration plate 06-MH-3192 from the 18th of December 2018 until 7pm last night.
3. The Volkswagen Jetta was then found burnt out at Rusheeney Crescent Clonee, Dublin 15 at 7pm. Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information of seeing people fleeing from this car or any other suspicious activity in the Rusheeney area in the days leading up to this murder.

Gardaí from Blanchardstown are investigating the fatal shooting of a male(mid 30's) at at Blakestown Cottages, Blanchardstown this evening the 22nd of December 2018.
The shooting occurred at approximately 6.50pm. The male was pronounced dead and his body is currently at scene.
The area has been sealed off for a technical examination and the office of the State pathologist has been notified.
