Update - Fatal Stabbing Incident, Rutland Grove, Crumlin on the 19/8/18

A man in his 30s arrested by Gardaí following the death of a man at Rutland Grove, Crumlin is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court (Criminal Courts of Justice No. 4) later this afternoon (21/8/2018) charged in connection with the investigation.

Gardaí at Sundrive Road are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following an incident at Rutland Grove, Crumlin.

Shortly after 8pm Gardaí and emergency services were called to an incident in a house on Rutland Grove. A man in his 60s was removed from the scene by ambulance to St James's Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. It’s understood he sustained a stab wound.
A man in his 30s has since been arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Crumlin Garda Station.

The scene is preserved for a technical and forensic examination and an incident room has been established at Sundrive Road Garda Station. The office of the State Pathologist and Coroner will be notified.

Gardaí investigating death of a man following a stabbing incident in a house at Rutland Grove, Crumlin are appealing to the public for information.

Speaking at Sundrive Road Station Superintendent Michael Cryan said, "We are appealing to anyone who was in the Rutland Grove / Clogher Road area of Dublin 12 between 8pm and 8.15pm on Sunday the 19th August 2018 to come forward. We are also trying to trace the movements of a Red Toyota Yaris, described as 4 door hatchback with L plates and partial registration 04-WW, that was driven from the scene at Rutland Grove at about 8pm before it was recovered at approximately 8.20pm at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. We would also appeal to anyone with dashcam footage from the Rutland Grove or Connolly Hospital areas in and around the specified times to make it available to investigators.”

Gardaí are continuing question a man in his 30s arrested in connection with the incident. He is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Crumlin Garda Station.

A post mortem will be carried out on the deceased man by the State Pathologist later this morning at the City Morgue.
