Arrest and Court Appearance – Fatal Traffic Collision in Dublin on the 8/12/17

A male in his 20s was arrested late on the evening of the 8/12/17 and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station.  The male has been charged in connection with the collision and is scheduled to appear before Court No. 1, The Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am on the 11/12/17.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Dublin.
Shortly after 7.30pm a man in his 30s was seriously injured when his motorcycle (moped) collided with a car at the junction of Sherrard Street and the North Circular Road. He was treated at the scene by emergency service personnel and taken by Ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the car was taken hospital for medical assessment, his injures are understood to be minor.

The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out. The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anyone who was at the crash site when the collision occurred and has not yet come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mountjoy Garda Station 01-6668600 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
