Update - Discovery of Body Tallaght, 5th June, 2016

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, at Hills Lane, Crooksling, which is just off the N81 Tallaght-Blessington Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 this morning 5th June, 2016.

Following a call from a member of the public Gardaí attended the scene shortly after 9am and the body of a man was found with apparent gunshot injuries.

Dr Michael Curtis and a full Garda Technical Bureau team have attended the scene which is currently undergoing a full technical examination. The Post Mortem will take place tomorrow morning, Monday 6th June, 2016.

A conference is currently underway at Tallaght Garda Station and a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed. A full investigation team has been assembled which includes assistance from the Garda National Units.

Superintendent Duff at Tallaght Garda Station this afternoon confirmed that "the identity of the deceased man has been confirmed and we are in the process of notifying his family, we believe that a number of gunshots were discharged at Hills Lane Crooksling. Consequently I am appealing for anyone who was in the Hills Lane or Crooksling areas between the hours of 9pm last night, Saturday 4th June to 9am this morning, Sunday 5th June, or who may have heard gunshots in this area, to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.
