Operation Thor - Arrest - Aggravated Burglary College Road, Cork

As part of on going Operation Thor, Gardaí in Togher are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a house on Highfield Avenue, College Road, Cork on Thursday night 2nd June at approximately 11.50pm.

At approximately 11.50pm on Thursday night a man knocked on the door of a house.  He burst into the house armed with a knife and threatened the two females (early 20s) who were in the house at the time. Both women were threatened with the knife but were uninjured. He left the house with a small sum of money, handbags and phones.

The man left the scene on foot and a description of the suspect was circulated and gardaí arrested a man (early 30s) a short distance away.  He was taken to Togher Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He was charged in relation to the incident and appeared before Cork District Court this afternoon, Friday 3rd June, 2016 and was remanded in custody.
