Two men arrested and charged in connection with Tallaght robberies on the 25/2/15

Gardaí investigating two robberies which occurred in the Tallaght area yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 24th February 2015 between 4.15pm and 4.40pm, have arrested and charged two men, 32 & 34 years in connection with this investigation.

The two men are due to appear before Dublin District Court No.2, Criminal Courts of Justice this morning, Wednesday 25th February 2015 at 10.30am.
 

Gardaí received a report of a robbery which occurred at a post office in Glenview, Tallaght at approximately 4.15pm. A man entered the premises allegedly in possession of a hatchet and threatened staff and customers before leaving the premises with a small amount of cash. He left the scene in a car.

 
At approximately 4.40pm a man entered a premises on Old Bawn Way, Tallaght again allegedly in possession of a hatchet. Again he threatened staff and left the scene, in a car, with a large amount of cash.
 

Gardaí located the car and after a foot pursuit, arrested two men. They were detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
 

Gardaí seized cash and a hatchet. No injuries were reported. The scenes were preserved and technically examined. Investigations are ongoing.
