Witness appeal to Beaver Street shooting incident on the 14/5/14

Gardaí are seeking witnesses in relation to the discharge of a Firearm at Beaver Street, Dublin 1, on the 14th May 2014.

At approximately 10.30pm a man was observed discharging a firearm in the direction of a house on Beaver Street, Dublin 1. There were two people present in the house at the time. However, there were no injuries to anyone present.

The culprit was in the area for a long period and would have stood out as he struggled to control the pedal cycle and firearm, before and after the incident. He fell at least twice during the attack and had all the appearance of someone who was intoxicated.

Following the incident he remounted a pedal cycle and proceeded slowly along Beaver Street onto Railway Street while being followed by a dark coloured saloon car whose progress was halted as a consequence. We like to speak with the occupants of that dark coloured saloon car.

A 28 year old male was arrested near the scene. The male was brought to Store Street Garda Station and detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. The man was later released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigating Gardaí would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the culprit in the area at the time of the incident and or anyone who has any information regarding the shooting. In particular Gardaí are seeking the assistance from the local community and would like to speak with anyone who may have seen a man on a pedal cycle at Beaver Street, Railway Street and Sean McDermott Street between 10:30pm and 10:40pm on the night of Wednesday, the 14th May 2014.

The offender was dressed in a light coloured (cream or white) hoody top with dark bands approx 2 inch thick on both upper arms, dark bottoms and dark runners. He cycled a red adult mountain bike.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this firearms incident to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 6668000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
