Male charged - Armed Robbery & Arrest in Clonmel, Tipperary on the 19/5/14

Gardaí have charged a 21 year old male in connection with a robbery that occurred at a fuel station at Greenane, Clonmel on Monday 19th May 2014 at approximately 4.30am.

The male is due to appear before Clonmel District Court this morning, Tuesday 20th May 2014 at 10.30am.

Gardaí at Clonmel, Co Tipperary received a call that a robbery had taken place at a fuel service station at Greenane, Clonmel at approximately 4.30am this morning (19/5/14).


A man was reported to have left the scene on foot carrying a firearm. The male suspect brandished and pointed the firearm (appears to be a handgun) at Gardaí as he approached Clonmel town centre. This man was kept under observation and the vicinity was cleared. Armed Gardaí attended the scene and confronted the suspect and arrested him. He is currently detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.

No injuries were sustained during the incident and investigations are continuing.
