Hijacking incident Terenure on the 18th May 2014

Gardai in Terenure have arrested a male following a Hijacking of a Taxi in Terenure on the 18th May 2014. The incident occurred at approximately 5.25am when the taxi stopped for a fare on Terenure Road North, a youth(15yrs) got into the taxi and threatened the taxi driver(male 36yrs) with a knife, demanded money and instructed the taxi driver to exit the car.

The youth then drove off in the car in the direction of the city and it collided with another car on Old Cabra road, Dublin 7,at approximately 5.45am the youth fled the scene but was arrested by Gardai a short distance away. He was taken to Rathmines Garda station where he is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
 
No one was injured during the incident.
