Firearms Incident and arrest at Beaver Street, Dublin 1 on the 14/05/14

Gardai have arrested a male and recovered a firearm following a firearms incident on Beaver Streer, Dublin 1 last night.

At approximately 10.30pm last night a lone male was observed discharging a firearm in the direction of a house on Beaver Street, Dublin 1. There were two people present in the house at the time and there were no injuries.  

The male then left the scene on a bicycle. A patrolling garda unit observed the suspected male on a bicycle on Sean McDermot Street a short time later and with the assistance of a second garda unit the 28 year old male was arrested.  

The male was brought to Store Street Garda Station where he is presently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.  

In a follow up search a firearm (subject to technical examination) was recovered near where the arrest was made.  

The scene at Beaver Street is currently preserved for a technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
